APIF covers silk industry

TEHRAN, May 1 (MNA) – Silk products are part of Iran’s ancient traditions. And so are the silkworms.

Iran’s Agricultural Products Insurance Fund (APIF) has set to insure a broad range of agricultural projects, including farming, range preservation, forestry, aquifer management, gardening, poultry farming and cattle farming. Meanwhile, it has recently announced that their insurance operations will also cover the national silk industry.

The plan will be first implemented in Gilan Province, which is one of the main sericulture centers in the country. An insurance policy will be valid fifty days after farmers have collected silkworm seeds. It also includes larvae and hybrid seeds.

Terms of every insurance policy will cover the consequences of natural disasters and certain diseases like Aspergillus’s.
